2007 Mary's Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc

Mary's Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc
VINEYARD INFORMATION

Mary's Vineyard is located north of Calistoga. It is a level, 22-acre site with moderately fertile soils, good sun exposure and excellent air circulation. In addition to the ideal terroir, we use sustainable farming methods accompanied by low yields to preserve the essential personality of this site. This was the first vineyard purchased by the Trinchero Family and is named for Mary Trinchero, Mario's wife and mother to Bob, Roger and Vera.

WINEMAKING
The 2007 growing season was dry, with about 60% of normal precipitation. Temperatures were warmer than normal as winter continued into spring, resulting in earlier budding, bloom and set.  The summer growing season continued on the mild, with few days topping 100 degrees. This led to fruit with good flavors and strong acidity. For texture and weight, half of the wine was barrel fermented in three year old (or older) French oak.  Additional complexity was gained by combining Wente (78%) and Musque (22%) clones.

TASTING NOTES

Mary’s Vineyard continues to produce wines with remarkable intensity and structure. This pale straw-colored Sauvignon Blanc layers flavors of tree fruit and flint on top of firm, palate-cleansing acids. In 2007, no new oak was used, allowing us to accentuate the crispness.

CHEF'S NOTES

This Sauvignon Blanc can be enjoyed while nibbling on mild cheeses with crackers or with a variety of other dishes. Our winery chefs often serve the Mary’s Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc with Grilled Cilantro-Lime Ahi Tuna.
